One of the greatest assets of Camp Callahan is the exceptional staff, selected for their maturity, sensitivity, and temperament. They are trained to serve the campers as guardian, friend, and fellow enjoyer of the Camp Callahan experience. Many of our staff members are preparing themselves for careers in fields such as special education, psychology, nursing and physical therapy. Over half of our staff return from the previous year, some with more than ten years experience at camp. The director and assistant directors have worked at camp for over 60 years combined. They all have one special purpose in mind for the campers – to provide a safe, fun-filled week of “independence from the impossible”.
In addition to the counselor staff, there is a registered nurse in camp at all times. A local doctor is on 24-hour call in case of emergency.
